Tasks / FOnline Dat Ripper - Powerful FOnline Dat Utility
« on: June 04, 2022, 05:08 »
I will put the description as is and as I usually do, in QnA form.

Q: What is it?
A: FOnlineDatRipper is a combined utility with archive/view/convert capabilities in one software.

Q: What's the current version?
A: Version's v1.0 -beta1; name "Eternal".

Q: Can you explain capabilities verbosely?
A: Software has capabilities of extracting files from Fallout 2 dat archives, feature to view FRM and ACM files and to convert ACM files to play with the audio player on your host OS.

Q: Where can I get virus scans of the downloaded zip archive?
A: Please go to https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ and upload the archive if you hesitate on the second thought.

Q: Where's help and (or manual) about this one?
A: Available in the menus under "How to use" in the app itself, all operations are described there.

Q: Wait a second, are there any alternatives or similar programs?
A: Yep, but the goal in this one to make the first one to have build with both opening multiple files in one filesystem and embedded FRM/ACM viewer and converter in one.
Mr. Stalin developed Dat Explorer and there is ACM2WAV as a single console application.
I can say that Dat Explorer is a good start, that's the application which inspired me, but I desired more of it, much more.
And sadly that there's no better than console ACM2WAV written in Pascal back in a day.

Q: Is this in development?
A: Yea, I developed it since January and I need to push it to the first solid release.

Q: Who's involved in making of this?
A: Many inspired me, but I did it. I do not seek for a glory. Maybe someone worth to notice. Humbly.

Tasks / Altering the colors of weapon and line sight range
« on: August 03, 2018, 01:28 »
Weapon range and line sight change - So since couple of people asked how to do it - here it is. But only for Open GL (that is normal FOnline2.exe). My graphics card doesn't support D3D client (which is FOnlineD3D.exe).
*used laptop for making and testing the D3D variant*

In this example we're both inverting the colors of weapon range and line sight (similar to what skycast earlier did) and increasing the thickness of the line. Check the source code in zip archive. It's well commented.

Works again only for Open GL since there is only one file. (it works for D3D too)

Screenshot of demonstration (you see cyan and magenta lines where red and green are supposed to be):

Download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/qugc5m1hozxou1r/lineFXv2.zip/file

To install it there're two ways:
1. Make new folder "effects" in FOnline2S3en/data and drag and drop both Primitive_Default.fx and Primitive_Default.glsl from lineFXv2.zip archive into it.
2. Put lineFXv2.zip in FOnline2S3en/data and then include it in DataFiles.cfg by typing data/lineFXv2.zip as the last line.

Then run CleanCache.bat and start the game over.

Testers: Legal (aka Moss) and Roxas. They Approved this.

Suggestions / Copper bottle caps
« on: January 16, 2016, 19:43 »
Second ingame currency more valuable than those ones on the market. Can be exchanged in the FLC banks for real bottle caps and vice-versa without any other unnecessary fee. The most suitable exchange ratio shall be decided sooner or later.

There is an item that can give you the copper bottle cap besides finding those rare humble amounts of copper bottlecaps. A golden nuka-cola. It's coloured brownish-caramel-golden (or simply golden) compared to the default blue one. A more rare one. After consuming golden nuka cola you shall glow in dark (under night conditions) as you had orange flare in the inventory. You can idle in Hub with two orange flares in inventory combined after you consumed a golden nuka cola thus becoming the most orange Christmas tree individual. It doesn't grant any more bonus than glowing in the dark and +1 AP. Since we all have some tool in 2nd hand, whether or not it's motion sensor, a stealthboy, a repair plies (tools) you can get glowing bonus that will last for quite amount of time without worry of losing this ability. For roleplaying or for simple entertainment in dungeons. On the ground a golden nuka cola radiates as an orange flare.

Some example where it might find the best use of it (with golden nuka colas combined with copper bottle caps). So you wanna buy marksman implant and you wanna pay 5 million caps to some jewdy greedy fella and cuz it's made of two steps both gathering from container to inventory and then meeting with him and paying him which requires a minute or two (no idea how much it can take, I was never the buyer yet I treasure hunted one in Glow just prior to the NCR Bank event). It makes transaction more easier as you need to give away lesser amount of bottle caps than usual. And you can with pay copper bottle caps and golden nuka colas combined since they have the same value (if you prefer caps let it be caps). Thousands combat armours mark II in a exchange for one implant - heard this joke on the radio ingame.

NPCs traders and player driven shopkeepers also value golden nuka colas (only them not the default blue ones) and copper bottle caps more than simple bottle caps according to the exchange ratio. Making paying avengers, Barrets armours, chem control implants, power armours are now even more easier to be bought.

And finally the places that spawn copper bottle caps and golden nuka colas. Golden nuka colas is spawned only on Khans transaction, Enclave event, Sierra level 2 dungeon and Sierra control. Copper bottle caps might be spawned on all the previous mentioned places (or events) and're more common than golden nuka colas. Copper bottle caps spawn in implant locker in Glow (which also spawns stealthboys, rare maps, motion sensors, geiger counters), Necropolis lockers on the last level (in the lockers which spawn random stuff including many stealthboys) and Ares implant locker. Value ratio of golden nuka cola and copper bottle cap is 1:1 (for all the NPCs). In players assessment it might not be. But who cares. Both golden nuka colas and copper bottle caps can be found in Sierra caves complex.

Good luck if you wanna implement this.
Indeed

Suggestions / Tell cleaning robot to not gather coloured flares
« on: September 23, 2015, 20:35 »
Currently you need to tell him to "stop gathering weapons please", as coloured flares are categorised as weapons and robot will normally pick them up from the ground. Coloured flares are part of base decoration and you don't really want robot removing those.
So make a new line in dialogue instead "Stop gathering coloured flares please".

Tasks / Lil' Mod (hexagons, crosshairs, cursors and shaders)
« on: July 07, 2015, 16:21 »

Q: What is it?
A: It's a single mod comprising (made of) new hexagons, crosshairs, cursors and shaders (rendering programs) for OpenGL. It can be used with any interface and any FOnline.

Q: Why it's called little?
A: Cuz it was very humble in the beginning consisting of only a few files.

Q: Which version is actual?
A: LilModV15Red and LilModV15White. Please check the last page for them.

Q: Which clients support this mod?
A: Hexagons, crosshairs and cursors are supported by both Open GL and Direct 3D.
Shaders (from effects folder) are supported only by Open GL (Primitive_Default.fx for sight line and weapon range line is the only exception).

Q: How do I install this?
A: There're two ways:
1. Extracting the zip archive in FOnline2S3en/data folder, running the CleanCache.bat and then running the game.
2. Putting file in FOnline2S3en/data folder, including it in DataFiles.cfg with data/<archive_example.zip> (as a last line preferrably), running the CleanCache.bat and then running the game.

Q: What programs were used to made this?
A: Viewer 1.3, Fallout Frame Animator 2.7, GIMP and Notepad++.

Suggestions / Shi implant removal
« on: July 05, 2015, 01:28 »
In San Francisco at exact place you install the implant you have the same computer (or other computer to prevent missclicks). Implant removal is 50k, the same as it was for installing. After removal it appears in your inventory. Then next implant installation is 50k.
Reasons:
A) My lvl 99 BG burster is absolutely perfect but it has medical implant and I wanna install defence implant, why wasting money on reroll (450k) here;
B) I wanna give implant to another player (sell to one or give to friend) and again 450k for reroll is overkill;

Conclusion: With A) we have easier implant transfer between lvl 99 chars and with B) we don't lose our chars with our stats when other player needs our implant.

Suggestions / Science machine in Hub
« on: February 03, 2015, 22:03 »
Bring your stuff to this machine and via dialog (the same way as you talk to ZaX comp in Glow) you commence sciencing everything from inventory until there's nothing left but metal parts, junk, .. stuff that can't be scienced are skipped. Computer check your science skill (with tools or without them). It informs you when it's complete.

Suggestions / Blueprint NPC collector
« on: January 12, 2015, 06:14 »
There're NPC collectors in San Fran, Redding Den for miscellaneous pre-war data, electronics,
so suggestion is make the npcs who would collect blueprints that're utterly useless due to Global tech: scoped hunting rifle, radx, leather armour mark ii, m60.. 500 caps per each blueprint.

How about turn this into plenty of caps; profit for everyone.
