Everything is being made from scratch.

I see the wasteland, finally, has made some people insane. Must be the ambient radiation that accumulated throughout the years and cellular damage has begun manifesting. ;)

Insane is interesting, a new engine, more importantly, the ability to manipulate it removes many restrictions that were quite debilitating. A fresh start, from the ground up, code wise for the design of general game based resource economics, role-playing aspects, character creation system, combat dynamic balance and other core game components allow more flexibility to integrate new concepts, correct mistakes, improve upon existing pieces of the puzzle.

Ambitious, to say the least, but full of potential. News like that bring back memories, it'd be nice to drop a donation and test something, I must evaluate the possibilities. Being a full time medic at the medical emergency department, life has granted hard responsibilities, but once in a while I still recall upon old memories, fond memories. I might revitalize some motivation for Fonline.

And yes, Pillars of Eternity team does Amazing job of blending 2d and 3d, creating an amazing detail.
The difference is we're not a professional game development team with 30+ people in just art design doing full week shift on graphics. But just 3 guys with some helping hands from time to time, which means redoing 14,000+ art assets for scenery is something that would take too much time and effort compared to gain.

Just remember, Pillars of Eternity background are handmade, pretty sure you can learn a thing or two

Hello guys,
I had a holiday with wifi hotel lobby only, thus i played fallout 1 and 2 for 1000th time, got nostalgic about it, and am in need for another dose, thus i have a question.
When i remembered fonline, mostly 2238, what i liked there most, what jumped into my head, was reputaion system, when you joined vault city f.e. enclave hated you and etc,  and i remember being slaver was very fun, using rope on beat up slave npcs, then selling them in cities, is there anything like that in fonline?

No one wants to answer you, so I'll try, but I've not played FOnline for ages and memory of fo2238 and fo2 are mixed for me now.

But I'm 100% sure there're no slaves nor mercs in fo2, as devs don't want to see them abused in PvP (just think of mutant-drops from fo2238).

As for reputation, I don't think there're NPC factions. There was BoS faction and it was joinable through chained quests, when I played fo2 last time. But judging from forums, BoS is player-driven now, the same as NCR.
I also know, from forums, that NCR president and may be some other important NCR members can manually alter your reputation with NCR.

Daily grinding boring quests also exist for raising reputation, which decays with time. I can remember someone gives quest from Hub and I don't remember what you need to do, and someone's quest in Boneyard, where you need to kill baby deathclaws. They reset each day and give some caps and reputation of corresponding city. It's always the same quest, the same location and you need to do the same things every time.

well, that i liked, mutant drops were amazing and they gave lot of flavor to pvp fights, but i wasnt really in to many pvp fights, usually i liked to have 5 slaves in my stack, then level them up etc, that was the fun part for me :)
Another thing which i liked, was the faction system, that was profession related, you had to join vault city to be able to craft drugs, or enclave for energy weapons,  it created some sort of community,  circle of yours, standing in one town, another green name comes to you, i wasnt hit a single time by another vault city citizen, and no one prevented them from doing that, and things like that bring nostalgia to me about this great game :)
And town-factions being player driven, thats just bullshit, but whatever, its not my game, im not paying for it, so no complains :)

Congratulations guys it's so awesome to see you're pushing this further rather than just keeping it alive! Nostalgia gets me back here sometimes and when I saw this thread I was like "can't be real". But you guys fucking did it!! Again congratulations, I'm sure all your efforts will be paid one day somehow.

Also I take the occasion to say that last time I tried to play I couldn't get the client to work on macOS, I tried all bottlers, from Wine to Parallels but noone worked properly. Do you think that these core-changes will fix the client issue for macOS users? At that point I would seriously consider getting back to play from time to time. <3
