FixBoy 2000 - A virtual crafting helper tool
« on: November 08, 2015, 20:36 »
Hello Wastelanders!

I'm not quite sure how useful this might be for the majority of players but, well...i did it anyway :). So here it is...the:

FixBoy 2000

Screen:

Basically it's a virtual crafting tool to help you calculate the ressources you need to craft a certain item.

Download Link:
Click Me!

Please Note: Included are two excel sheets Fixboy.xlsm and FixboyW10.xlsm. For some users the program behind won't work on newer Windows 10 and/or newer Office versions. For this case the FixboyW10-sheet was added and can be used instead.

It's written in Excel-VBA, so basically it's an excel sheet. It won't work with OpenOffice i guess, since OpenOffice uses some other kind of programming language.

Known Bugs/Issues:
  • On newer windows systems and/or newer Office versions there is a library reference issue with some function, which causes an error message when accessing any list with craftable items. --> solved with alternative excel file

TODO:
  • crafting tables for Tier4 items
  • maybe some additional infos
  • add infos about numbers of possible items with stats

If you encounter a bug and Excel shows you a dialog screen please choose "Debug" and make a screen, if possible. This way i can quicker estimate, what caused the crash. Also, if you want to modify the program/form or add new features you are free to do this. The VBA-code is password protected, though so please contact me via PM and i send you the pass. This way i can keep an overview over future features and the people working on them.

Alright...have fun crafting :)

Thx. Basically that's no problem. It just requires some diligence to c/p all the data from Xsarqs wiki, which was a great helper btw. The actual code was written in like half a day max i think (inlcuding all testings/fixes etc.) but to obtain all the data took me like the whole weekend approximately.

During this process i often wondered if there would be a better way to gain the needed data from the wiki page. Maybe with some sort of Phyton script or whatever. So especially for things that might be updated a lot (like Experience for crafted items or needed ressources) some linker would be quite helpful. I'm just thinking aloud here :)

I'm sorry but...the crafting materials are already shown ingame.

There's really no purpose for this.

yes, this is way more comfortable than some nagging calculations, with eventual mistakes and returns to base on top. gg Balthasar

For frag nades it should be 2 metal + 5 gunpowder

+ Minigun needs 3 metal parts for each :D

EDIT: Oh nevermind, i can change it myself. Great job ;)

Mods modify the game, this is not modding the game. Also some people ask me to do changes for them.

How is this being a douchebag? Posting some criticism makes me a douchebag, amazing logic.  ::) "Everyone's a critic"

There's really no purpose for this unless you're really that bored to use it and people already relied on the wiki soo...

Well i can't say that it's much needed but the purpose was to make crafting calculations a bit more comfortable. Materials are shown ingame but not the amount you need if you craft more then one batch for example.

Very well done indeed, thanks.

Will do. Soon-ish :)

Yeah, you can change it by yourself. For those who might not encountered this possibiliy yet: --> Just click "Unhide Tables" in the main sheet and there you can edit all crafting tables by yourself.

Neverthless i updated the file and the link above. Thanks for the report :).

Very cool.

I have one suggestion what could be added here:
The weight of the materials and maybe even a field where you can set your crafter's max carryweight, so it would warn you when you go over that.

Edit: poop, just saw pepik suggested it already.

Update

- added craftable Tier 4 stuff
- added additional infos:
  • an info about the experience gained by crafting items
  • an info about the weight of the ressources (materials) you need to craft a certain amount of a certain item
  • an info about the weight of the crafted item itself

Link in first post is updated

EDIT: Note that the experience gained by most of T4 weapons will be shown as 1 multiplied with the amount of crafted items. This is because on most of them there's no info about the exp gain.
