If I good remember guy who develop it said in ~2015 that Bethesda lawyers forced him to stop doing it and well, he stop. Strange thing.

Staying in singleplayer games on fonline engine this looks promising and from what I know it is in active (but slow) development - http://www.indiedb.com/games/fonline-last-breath

Yeah, sounds strange. I found old What Remains forum with this thread. Check posts from january 2015 of this Solar Surf guy, he was developer of WR - http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/wr-general-chit-chatter-tidbits.57611/page-21#post-3708801

Probably someone from Bethesda was thinking that What Remains will be totally new standalone game that contains and distribute their copyrighted stuff like graphics and shit, maybe even they thinking that it will be commercial project. Hard to say. If I'm not wrong Bethesda don't give a shit about Fonline projects till they using (from players fallout installations), but not contain itself and distribute copyrighted fallout content and till these projects who using this stuff are non-profit. So yeah, wtf.

I think this is kinda bullshit, for real, if i remember well 2 years ago, the devs of "Van Buren: A Fallout RPG Adventure" get a letter like that cuz they were using the Fallout 2 engine, so what they did it was its change the engine to Fonline engine, and bathesda has no power over there, i cant get it

I think it becuz Van Buren it is an jurisdiction hole, cuz "sprites and arts" belong to bathesda, but the history of van buren, belong to inxile, i hope nobody gonna destroy this mod too

Spoiler
Surf Solar was one of the devs of 2238

Shame..This WR looks great! Solar must change some things in game to avoid problems with Bethseda and as he said that motivation to change what he love about game is low so i guess WR is dead.Shame..
Still i can't understand if mod is free to play with no money involved & profit, just pure ppl's love, why fuckers can jump on u..

This is interesting also about modding

http://nymag.com/selectall/2016/07/did-the-makers-of-fallout-4-rip-off-a-member-of-their-modding-community.html

Qoute: At the end of the day, these mods are being built using intellectual property owned by Bethesda, so modders already have a dicey sense of ownership over their work. And is adding new writing or dialogue to a game different from adding new gameplay or mechanics? The answer is unclear. A community feeding off of a developer’s output, and vice versa, is part of what makes these games have staying power for years after their release. It benefits everybody. But is it possible that one side might be benefitting a bit more?
