You're talking about DialogEditor.exe? Yes, the .exe will have run-time failure if you just download the Dialog Editor folder all by its lonesome...

If you look at the DialogEditor.cfg file it requires Server folder as well. I would suggest just downloading the whole SDK package using Tortoise SVN or something similar, but if you want the Editor to work without downloading all of SDK, you'll need to at least download sections of the Server (which contains the needed data and scripts folders) folder and put it in the correct place according to the .cfg file, which you should open in Notepad.

In other words, if you don't want to download all of SDK, do this:
1. Create a starting folder, like "FOnline SDK" or something like that
2. Have a "Server" and a "Tools" folder in starting folder
3. Make "data" and "scripts" folder in "Server" folder
4. Copy the info from the repository into the respective data and scripts folders.
5. Make "DialogEditor" folder in Tools folder
6. Copy the info from repository into the DialogEditor folder (I think you already downloaded this, so just put it in the right location)

I know the directions are long-winded, but here's a picture:

Make sure you have the same stuff in the data and scripts folder that the SDK has.

My setup could be simplified even more, but it's fine. I would suggest starting with example dialogues from the SDK to see how the structure is.

--------
By the way, devs, I might be able to help with dialogue in my free time.

This is relevant to everyone's interests:

I would also suggest downloading the entire SDK so you can open existing dialogs and the scripts that they use as examples, or even templates.

You can get dialog editor with normal Cveta SVN. You could try it and see if it's in you'r taste.

Alright, downloaded the entire SDK and got the dialogue I'll test it out see if I can work it with it.

EDIT: little awkward but I'm getting the hang of it!

Wouldn't it be better to post a thread for each contribution needed?
